ELECTRICAL ESTIMATOR/BID ENGINEER

Powersystems UK Ltd is a high voltage engineering company specialising in electrical power infrastructure, grid connections and renewable energy generation. Due to Continuing success within these sectors, are seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator/Bid Engineer to join the team in our Bristol office.

►  Role:

As part of the team manage tender enquiries generated from the Sales Team. Taking tender enquiries from tender qualification, quotation build-up, bid submission through to contract award including supplier identification, value proposition and commercial considerations. Reporting to the Head of Department the successful applicant will have a pivotal role in the company’s contract awards.

►   Key Duties:

Responsible for commercial success, technical correctness, and successful return of tender submissions.

  • Manage tender enquires, qualifying requirements of the tender, identifying equipment specification and suppliers.
  • Carry out site surveys, attend pre-tender, post tender and pre-order meetings. Develop strong understanding of the requirements.
  • Set out and build-up of quotations.
  • Engage with sub-contractors and suppliers for best prices.
  • Prepare bid for client submission, including all bid documentation.
  • Meet client tender response timeframes.
  • Attend and/or lead post tender interviews.
  • Hand-over contract awards to Project Team.
  • Project a professional image to clients and colleagues
  • Contribute to the future success to Powersystems UK Ltd and its clients.

►   Key qualifications & experience:

  • Experience in engineering tender/bid submissions an advantage but not necessary.
  • Minimum of NVQ level 3 in electrical engineering or similar discipline.
  • Have a good technical knowledge and be able to apply this in a practical way.
  • Flexible and organised to manage workload and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work alone or as part of a team.
  • Competent in interpretation of specifications and drawings.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of High Voltage systems would be an advantage but not necessary.
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have a full UK driving licence.

ELECTRICAL PROJECT ENGINEER

Due to our continued success and expansion within the market place, in particular the renewable energy industry, we are seeking Electrical Project Engineers to join our experienced team.

►   Key Duties:

  • Project engineer and be responsible for commercial success, technical correctness, and successful completion of projects.
  • Liaison with clients, consultants and their representatives.
  • Ensure project compliance with CDM and health & Safety requirements.
  • Oversee junior engineers and installation teams.
  • Work closely with in-house engineering staff generate equipment layouts, designs, testing and commissioning procedures.
  • Liaise with manufacturers on design, installation and commissioning issues.
  • Attend manufacturers’ factory acceptance tests.
  • Contribute to the future success of Powersystems UK Ltd and its clients.

►   Key qualifications and experience:

  • Experience with a utility or in electrical contracting.
  • Minimum of HNC in Electrical engineering or similar discipline.
  • Have a good technical knowledge and be able to apply this in a practical way.
  • Knowledge of 11, 33 and 132KV systems.
  • Senior authorisation for switching up to 33KV will be an advantage.
  • You will be confident in managing clients and third parties and have a strong commitment to the success of the projects you undertake.
  • Ability to provide ideas and create innovative solutions.
  • Self motivated with ability and initiative to get to the heart of a problem and see it through to completion.
  • Must be available to travel on work related business with some occasional overnight stays.
  • Must have a UK Driving licence.

  • Salary range £30,000 – £50,000 depending on experience and qualifications.

HV CABLE JOINTER

Powersystems UK Ltd is a high voltage engineering company specialising in electrical power infrastructure, grid connections and renewable energy generation. Due to continuing success within these sectors and expansion we are seeking experienced High Voltage Cable Jointers to join our existing team on Projects throughout the UK.  Due to the nature of our work, candidates will be required to travel and stay away from home.

►   Key Duties:

  • To carry out HV cable jointing and terminations on 11kV and 33kV (Experience on higher voltages desirable but not essential).
  • To carry out earthing and cable installations.
  • To provide assistance to electricians and other trades on larger installations.
  • Take a Supervisory role when necessary.
  • Mentor and coach junior staff in developing their knowledge and skills.
  • Assist with site breakdowns and investigative procedures.
  • Carry out work in a safe manner, adhering to health and safety procedures at all times.
  • Act as a competent person to receive safety documentation.
  • Take personal ownership and responsibility of any company property entrusted to them.
  • Project a professional image to clients and colleagues.
  • Contribute to the future success of Powersystems UK Ltd and its clients.

►   Key qualifications & experience:

  • Must have a minimum of three years experience as a Cable Jointer.
  • Experience of working within the electrical power sector desirable.
  • Experience of working on Construction sites.
  • Must hold JIB approved ECS card.
  • Experience working on Commercial & Industrial installations.
  • Ability to work proactively on own or as part of a team.
  • Full UK Driving licence.

►   Salary & Benefits:

  • Highly competitive salary depending on experience and qualifications £16-17.15 per hour + travel paid, with overtime available (OTE £50,000 – £60,000).
