ELECTRICAL PROJECT ENGINEER
Due to our continued success and expansion within the market place, in particular the renewable energy industry, we are seeking Electrical Project Engineers to join our experienced team.

►   Key Duties
Project engineer and be responsible for commercial success, technical correctness, and successful completion of projects.
Liaison with clients, consultants and their representatives.
Ensure project compliance with CDM and health & Safety requirements.
Oversee junior engineers and installation teams.
Work closely with in-house engineering staff generate equipment layouts, designs, testing and commissioning procedures.
Liaise with manufacturers on design, installation and commissioning issues.
Attend manufacturers’ factory acceptance tests.
Contribute to the future success of Powersystems UK Ltd and its clients.

►   Key qualifications and experience
Experience with a utility or in electrical contracting.
Minimum of HNC in Electrical engineering or similar discipline.
Have a good technical knowledge and be able to apply this in a practical way.
Knowledge of 11, 33 and 132KV systems.
Senior authorisation for switching up to 33KV will be an advantage.
You will be confident in managing clients and third parties and have a strong commitment to the success of the projects you undertake.
Ability to provide ideas and create innovative solutions.
Self motivated with ability and initiative to get to the heart of a problem and see it through to completion.
Must be available to travel on work related business with some occasional overnight stays.
Must have a UK Driving licence.

COMMISSIONING ENGINEER
Powersystems UK Ltd is a high voltage engineering company specialising in electrical power infrastructure, grid connections and renewable generation. Due to Continuing success within these sectors and expansion leads to this vacancy. The commissioning of these substations is the final and critical stage of the build. To strengthen our team we are seeking an experienced Electrical Commissioning Engineer.

►  Duties and responsibilities of the role include

  • Plan and carry out work in a safe manner, adhering to health and safety procedures at all times.
  • Liaising with in house project engineers to produce and develop commissioning plans.
  • Carry out onsite, pre and post energisation commissioning of substation equipment and protection schemes to ensure
  • Powersystems projects meet with the highest standards.
  • Liaison with clients, consultants and their representatives.
  • Produce commissioning reports and test documentation
  • Manage interfaces between Powersystems and client / DNO commissioning engineers.
  • Liaise with manufacturers on commissioning issues and attend FAT tests.
  • Provide technical support to project engineers during design and drawing approval process.
  • Project a professional image to clients and colleagues
  • Contribute to the future success of Powersystems UK Ltd and its clients.

►   Key qualifications and experience

  • Candidates should have gained relevant experience of commissioning activities within the electrical contracting or utility industries. We would expect you to be self-motivated with proactive approach to work and be able to rise to a challenge
  • Educated to a minimum HND level qualification in electrical engineering or equivalent
  • Sound technical electrical engineering knowledge within the power sector
  • Previously authorised on electrical safety rules for high voltage systems
  • Flexible and organised to manage workload to meet deadlines
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work proactively on own or as part of a team
  • Track record of commissioning.
  • Excellent communication & IT skills.
  • Full UK driving licence

Due to continuing success within these sectors and expansion we are seeking experienced Electrical Mates to work with our field staff throughout the UK. Due to the nature of our work, candidates will be required to travel and stay away from home for short periods.

►   Key Duties:

  • To provide assistance to Site Supervisors, Electricians and Jointers with site installations and maintenance activities.
  • Assist with site breakdowns and investigative procedures.
  • Carry out work in a safe manner, adhering to health and safety procedures at all times.
  • Stay up to date with current and new regulatory and technical requirements.
  • Take personal ownership and responsibility of any company property entrusted to them.
  • Project a professional image to clients and colleagues.

►   Key qualifications & experience:

  • Knowledge of working within the electrical installation (preferably power) sector.
  • Knowledge of cable laying and jointing preferable.

ELECTRICIAN

Due to continuing success within these sectors and expansion we are seeking experienced Electricians to join our existing team on projects throughout the UK.  Due to the nature of our work, candidates will be required to travel and stay away from home for short periods.

►   Key Duties:

  • Undertake site electrical installations as required.
  • Carry out Inspections and testing to both new and existing installations.
  • To undertake electrical maintenance on customer’s installations as necessary.
  • Competent to become an AP to receive and work under HV Safety rules and PTW’s.
  • To provide assistance to the HV teams on larger site installations.
  • Take a Supervisory role when necessary.
  • Mentor and coach junior staff in developing their knowledge and skills.
  • Assist with site breakdowns and investigative procedures.
  • Carry out work in a safe manner, adhering to health and safety procedures at all times.
  • Stay up to date with current and new regulatory and technical requirements.
  • Fulfil role of First Aid Appointed person.

HV CABLE JOINTER
Powersystems UK Ltd is a high voltage engineering company specialising in electrical power infrastructure, grid connections and renewable generation. Due to continuing success within these sectors and expansion we are seeking experienced High Voltage Cable Jointers to join our existing team on Projects throughout the UK.  Due to the nature of our work, candidates will be required to travel and stay away from home for short periods.

►   Key Duties:

  • To carryout HV cable jointing and terminations on 11kV and 33kV (Experience on higher voltages desirable).
  • Competent to become an AP to receive and work under HV Safety rules and PTW’s.
  • To provide assistance to the electrical and other trades on larger installations.
  • Take a Supervisory role when necessary.

HV SENIOR AUTHORISED PERSON
Powersystems UK Ltd is a high voltage engineering company specialising in electrical power infrastructure, grid connections and renewable generation. Due to Continuing success within these sectors and expansion leads to this vacancy. Operating on high voltage systems up to 132KV we are looking for a dedicated SAP who will be able to attend sites all over the UK to carryout switching in order to achieve safety from the system and issue safety documents to our installation and commission staff.

►   Key Duties:

  • Plan and carry out work in a safe manner, adhering to health and safety procedures at all times.
  • Liaison with clients, consultants and their representatives to ensure safe working practices.
  • Attending site to carry out HV switching operations in accordance with our electrical distribution safety rules.Issuing of
  • safety documents.
  • Identifying and spiking of cable circuits including fault location.
  • Testing of cable circuits.
  • Assist project and commissioning engineers with HV testing when required.
  • Oversee and mentor junior engineers, competent persons and authorised persons who are working towards SAP status.
  • Manage interfaces between Powersystems and client / DNO SAP’s.
  • Project a professional image to clients and colleagues

►   Key qualifications & experience:

  • Experience with a utility or in electrical contracting as a Senior Authorised Person.
  • A minimum of HNC in Electrical engineering or similar discipline.
  • Have a good technical knowledge of HV switchgear, both current and obsolete equipment.
  • Flexible and organised to manage workload to meet deadlines
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work proactively on own or as part of a team
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Full UK Driving licence.
