    • Design of HV substations and electrical infrastructure (11 kV to 132 kV) – including substation building layouts, primary substation equipment layouts, busbar designs, primary equipment specifications
    • Protection & Control design – preparation of protection SLD’s, protection scheme specifications, protection & control schematics, protection coordination reports, relay configuration files.
    • HV Cable Design – design and verification of cable designs, cable ampacity rating calculations & reports using standard manufacturers data and finite analysis software packages (Cymcap).
    • Systems studies – undertake preliminary design studies using Digsilent Powerfactory (Load Flow, Fault Level, protection coordination, Harmonics, P28), management and review of system studies provided by external consultants
    • Carry out earthing designs using excel and CDEG’s and review earthing designs provided by external consultants
    • Prepare detailed design packages including cable schedules, schematics, block wiring diagrams, ADMD calculations, battery charger sizing
    • Preparation of general arrangement drawings, support the CAD and panel assembly teams
    • Ensure designs prioritise safety and comply with CDM and Health & Safety regulations
    • Visit sites for surveys, inspections, and factory acceptance tests
    • Engage directly with clients, consultants, and DNO/TNO representatives to deliver projects on time and to specification

    • Manage and review simulation studies for generation connections undertaken by other consultants or carried out in-house, including load flow, reactive power capability, fault level analysis, power quality, and harmonic studies to demonstrate compliance with Engineering Recommendations, the Distribution Code, the Grid Code, and industry standards
    • Attend sites for inspection and design purposes and attend manufacturers factory acceptance tests when required
    • Uphold a professional image, contribute to Powersystems’ success, and proactively improve services and efficiency

    • Demonstratable experience of high voltage electrical engineering design (11 kV and above) within the electrical contracting or utility industries. You will possess excellent technical knowledge and be able to apply this in a practical way
    • HNC/Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
    • Strong organisational, time management, IT (MS Office), and report writing skills, with excellent spoken and written English.
    • Ability to clearly communicate technical and commercial information, negotiate effectively, and contribute to a dynamic team.
    • Adaptable, resilient, proactive, willing to travel across the UK with occasional overnight stays, and holds a full UK driving licence.
    • Right to Work within the UK without limitation
    • A higher degree/post graduate qualification or equivalent in power systems would be an advantage
    • Have obtained or be working towards professional registration with the IET at IENG / CENG level
    • Strong report writing skills and the ability to communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner
    • Open to change, resilient and proactive
    • Salary £55,000 -£70,000
