The aim of the role is to facilitate the administration of the project teams. The Project Administrator will work closely as part of a team, alongside a Project Manager / Project Engineer, and will be responsible for keeping all tasks on track anticipating, and preventing, any issues that may arise before they occur. Duties and responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

The purpose of this role is to effectively support the electrical installation and commission of a diverse range of electrical HV projects for Powersystems, and to assist in ensuring all projects are installed and commissioned in line with Company procedures, within the agreed timeframe and with due regard to Health, Safety and Wellbeing.

Due to the nature of our work, candidates will be required to travel and stay away from home.

Duties and responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist electricians and other tradespeople with site electrical installations including lighting, power, cable tray ladder, cable installation and switch gear installation
  • Prepare cable, earthing, ground works, under supervision
  • Install cable and containment under supervision
  • Attend college and progress through electrical installation course successfully and in a timely manner and actively seek opportunities to learn alongside colleagues
  • Take personal ownership and responsibility of any Company property issued to you
  • Ensure all tools and equipment are pre-arranged and inspected prior to arrival on site.
  • Ensure all tools, equipment and material are kept in good working order and any defects rectified in a timely manner
  • Ensure all appropriate PPE is worn at all times and maintained correctly
  • Complete Powersystems site diary with regular review with apprentice mentor/coach
  • Attend regular team meetings with Operations Site Manager.
  • Carry out work in a safe manner, always adhering to health and safety procedures.

The purpose of this role is to effectively assist the Site Manager, Site Supervisor by leading and supervising the site cable installation teams to ensure the safe and efficient performance of works on site installing and commissioning a diverse range of electrical HV projects for Powersystems. Assist the site operations team with the installation of works. To take responsibility for ensuring all projects are installed and commissioned in line with Company procedures, within the agreed timeframe and with due regard to Health, Safety and Well-being. Due to the nature of our work, candidates will be required to travel and stay away from home.

Duties and responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Attend and provide input to regular meetings with Site Manager, Site Supervisor to ensure efficient and effective supervision
  • Prepare for and complete internal and external audits with Site Manager and SHEQ team
  • Ensure all tools, equipment and materials are pre-arranged and inspected prior to arrival to site
  • Ensure all tools, equipment and material are kept in good working order and any defects rectified in a timely manner.
  • Liaise with Site Manager and Project Engineer/Manager to co-ordinate all planned works
  • Successfully complete and implement SSSTS course and be the main point of contact for the cabling installation
  • Efficiently lead cable installation teams including assisting with the installation of cabling, earthing and testing
  • Assist electricians, jointers and any other trade with general works.
  • Attend regular site meetings and ensure progress is made on health and safety matters
  • Carry out toolbox talks and daily briefings to staff
  • Document site progress and report to Site Manager and Project Manager via Site diary.
  • Proactively promote Priority No. 1 and encourage all staff to engage in safety reporting and awareness
  • Monitor, manage and report on performance of staff on site
  • Set out jobs/tasks from drawings and specifications and requisition the necessary installation materials
  • Follow project programme and meet milestones dates, in partnership with Site Manager/Project Manager.
  • Liaise with Site Manger/Project Manager to request required labour on site.

The Power Systems Studies Engineer is a new role within the company and as such you will be expected to define the strategy and methodology for conducting simulation and modelling studies to demonstrate compliance with relevant ENA Standards, Distribution and Grid code. You will work closely with the electrical design and project teams and will be responsible for producing and reviewing simulation studies for Powersystems UK internal projects.

Duties and responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Produce and review steady state compliance studies to include load flow, reactive power capability, P28 / P29 power quality, G55 harmonics, Insulation coordination, arc flash, protection coordination studies
  • Undertake and manage simulation studies for generation connections carried out in-house, including load flow, reactive power capability, fault level analysis, power quality, and harmonic studies to demonstrate compliance with engineering recommendations, the distribution code, the grid code, and industry standards
  • Review simulation studies for generation connections undertaken by external consultants, including load flow, reactive power capability, fault level analysis, power quality, and harmonic studies to demonstrate compliance with engineering recommendations, the distribution dode, the grid code, and industry standards
  • Update and compile company standards to facilitate the production of in-house simulation studies. Setout the studies design process, templates and deliverables for system studies
  • Contribute to the development of in-house design engineers by providing in-house mentoring and training
  • Identify training requirements and suitable external training providers to ensure the continuous development of system studies engineers
  • Provide technical support of our team of electrical design engineers
  • Attend client design meetings (as necessary) in order to provide technical support
  • Ensure that all designs are designed for safety and are compliant with CDM and Health and Safety regulations, including producing design risk assessments, and effectively communicating risks to design and project engineers
  • Be responsible for managing the delivery of simulation studies within agreed timeframes and to a high quality that reflects Powersystems reputation as high voltage specialists
  • Build relationships with clients, and attend design and project co-ordination meetings with clients, their consultants, DNO and TNO representatives as necessary

We are looking to recruit an experienced Electrical Design Engineer; the role is diverse, challenging and rewarding. You will be given the opportunity to practice and develop a wide range of skills including specification of HV primary equipment, design of protection and control schemes, reviewing and conducting simulation and modelling studies to demonstrate compliance. We are flexible in our approach to the role, and you may choose to specialise or to work across a range of engineering and design areas, either way we will provide a supporting environment in which to develop as a high voltage specialist.

Duties and responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for the delivery of designs within agreed timeframes, to a high quality that reflects Powersystems reputation as high voltage specialists
  • Work across multiple design projects and prioritise conflicting project deadlines
  • Communicate effectively with clients, consultants, and project engineers, to understand their expectations and justify your design decisions
  • Provide technical support for the project engineers for design queries
  • Build relationships with clients, and attend design and project co-ordination meetings with clients, their consultants, and DNO and TNO representatives
  • Ensure all designs are designed for safety and are compliant with CDM and Health and Safety regulations, including producing design risk assessments, and effectively communicating risks to project engineers and construction operatives
  • Prepare design packages for DNO contestable works and balance of plant (private) works from 11 kV to 132 kV
  • Work closely with the in-house CAD drafting team to generate SLD’s, equipment layouts, cable route drawings, construction, and legal plans for new HV connections
  • Produce AC/DC schematics for protection, control, and SCADA panels, and liaise with our in-house panel assemblers on the construction of panels
  • Select HV and LV cables and design cable routes using CYMCAP and Amtech software
  • Prepare multicore cable schedules
  • Manage and review simulation studies for generation connections undertaken by other consultants or carried out in-house, including load flow, reactive power capability, fault level analysis, power quality, and harmonic studies to demonstrate compliance with Engineering Recommendations, the Distribution Code, the Grid Code, and industry standards
  • Attend sites for inspection and design purposes and attend manufacturers factory acceptance tests when required
  • Project a professional image to clients and colleagues

Here’s what you need to be successful in the role:

  • Gained relevant experience of high voltage electrical engineering design (11 kV and above) within the electrical contracting or utility industries. You will possess excellent technical knowledge and be able to apply this in a practical way

  • Full UK driving licence
  • Have obtained or be working towards professional registration with the IET at IENG / CENG level

Duties and responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

Here’s what you need to be successful in the role:

We Are Recruiting for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer

This exciting opportunity to join our team has been created because of our continued success and expansion within the marketplace, in particular the renewable energy industry. We are looking to recruit an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer; the role is diverse, challenging and rewarding. You will be given the opportunity to practice and develop a wide range of skills such as specification of HV primary equipment, design of protection and control schemes, HV and LV cable selection, reviewing and conducting simulation and modelling studies to demonstrate compliance. We are flexible in our approach to the role, and you may specialise in a specific area of design or provide expertise across a broad range of design disciplines, either way we will provide a supporting environment in which to develop as a high voltage specialist.

Duties and responsibilities of the role include:

  • Responsible for the delivery of designs within agreed time frames to a high quality that reflects Powersystems reputation as high voltage specialists
  • The ability to work across multiple design projects and prioritise conflicting project deadlines
  • Provide technical support and mentoring for junior design engineers
  • The ability to communicate effectively with clients, consultants, and project engineers, to understand their expectations and justify your design decisions
  • Build relationships with clients, and attend design and project co-ordination meetings with clients, their consultants, as well as DNO and TNO representatives
  • Ensure that all designs are designed for safety and are compliant with CDM and Health and Safety regulations, including producing design risk assessments, effectively communicating risks to project engineers and construction operatives
  • Prepare design packages for DNO contestable works and balance of plant (private) works from 11 kV to 132 kV
  • Work closely with the in-house CAD drafting team to generate SLD’s, equipment layouts, cable route drawings, construction, and legal plans for new HV connections
  • Produce AC/DC schematics for protection, control, and SCADA panels. Liaise with our in-house panel assemblers on the construction of panels
  • Select HV and LV cables and design cable routes using CYMCAP and Amtech software
  • Prepare multicore cable schedules
  • Manage and review simulation studies for generation connections undertaken by other consultants or carried out in-house, including load flow, reactive power capability, fault level analysis, power quality, and harmonic studies to demonstrate compliance with Engineering Recommendations, the Distribution Code, the Grid Code, and industry standards
  • Attend sites for inspection and design purposes and attend manufacturers factory acceptance tests when required
  • Maintain a professional image at all times

Here’s what you need to be successful in the role:

  • Demonstratable experience of high voltage electrical engineering design (11 kV and above) within the electrical contracting or utility industries. You will possess excellent technical knowledge and be able to apply this in a practical way
  • HNC/Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Right to work within the UK without limitation

Desirable criteria:

  • A higher degree/post graduate qualification or equivalent in power systems would be an advantage
  • Have obtained or be working towards professional registration with the IET at IENG / CENG level
  • Strong report writing skills and the ability to communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner

  • Provide leadership and management throughout the project life cycle
  • Manage, mentor and support senior project engineers, project engineers and graduate engineers providing advice and guidance from initial concept to completion
  • Provide development plans, organisie and attending projects team appraisals
  • Responsible for communication and interfaces between commercial, estimating, SHEQ, finance and operations departments to suit the need of the business
  • Responsibility for ensuring that reports efficiently and effectively manage and deliver across a diverse range of electrical HV projects including liaison with clients, consultants, and their representatives. Review and approve project construction programmes. Attend site project progress, coordination meetings and ensure inspections audits of site works to monitor quality and progress are completed in line with project KPI’s and provide support on commercial aspects of projects in line with budgets and forecasting budgets for financial reporting. Assisting with the forecasting of labour requirements, materials and sub-contract spend from outset to completion
  • Ensure project compliance with health and safety adherence including strategic planning and management of projects, produce risk assessments and method statements and undertake safety audits
  • Attend site project coordination meetings and undertake inspections and audits of site works to monitor quality, progress, managing commercial aspects of the project in line with statutory and customer requirements
  • Management of internal and external resource to ensure project goals and customer expectations are met
  • Building and maintaining relationships with our clients and supply chain partners
  • Manage in-house design and engineering teams to generate equipment layouts, designs, cable schedules, testing, and commissioning procedures
  • Liaise with suppliers and manufactures on design, installation, and commissioning. Obtain competitive tenders from the supply chain. Attend manufacturers factory acceptance tests when required
  • Attending pre-start and kick off and ongoing client meetings
  • Approval on long lead procurement for projects
  • Set up and agree a budget for projects
  • Ensuring projects resourcing requirements are met to meet contract programmes, with the ability to communicate strategy throughout the organisation
  • Attend project review meetings and feedback learnings to project team
  • Provide proactive support and guidance to all parties on compliance with statutory requirements and company standards

  • Take responsibility for leading and driving the company values within the project teams
  • Support management of sub-contract labour subcontracts in accordance with contract requirements

Here’s what you need to be successful in the role:

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience of managing and delivering electrical projects

  • Able to communicate and influence at all levels
  • Able to work effectively whilst under pressure
  • Able to assess and identify compliance shortfalls or engineering opportunities within designs
  • Able to plan and prioritise workload
  • Able to follow business processes whilst managing multiple time pressured tasks
  • Familiarisation of NEC or FIDIC contracts
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Right to Work within the UK without limitation
  • Degree, HND in Electrical Engineering, Project Management, or similar field or equivalent
  • Chartership in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience in HV systems
  • NEBOSH Certificate or Advanced Health and Safety Training
