Role Overview

As a Commissioning Engineer, you will be responsible for the safe testing and commissioning of high‑voltage equipment and systems on utility‑scale renewable energy and electrical infrastructure projects.

Working closely with Project Engineers, design teams, clients, DNOs, and subcontractors, you will act as a technical authority during the commissioning phase, ensuring systems are delivered safely, compliantly, and to the highest quality standards.

The role is remote / site based, with extensive UK travel required.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver electrical testing and commissioning activities safely, following project requirements and company SHEQ procedures
- Commission and test outdoor substation equipment, including pre‑ and post‑energisation activities
- Carry out testing on switchgear, protection relays, auxiliary systems, and associated HV equipment
- Perform protection, control, interface, and SCADA testing, including IEC 61850, Modbus, using tools such as Omicron and Test Universe
- Provide expert technical support during commissioning, working collaboratively with project teams and clients

About You

We’re looking for someone with:
- Strong hands‑on experience in power sector testing and commissioning
- Proven expertise in primary and secondary injection, switchgear, protection relays, and cable testing
- Confidence using standard relays and tools such as Micom, Sepam, Siemens, ABB, Omicron, Test Universe, and IEC 61850 environments
- Ability to test, commission, and fault‑find protection, control, interface, and SCADA systems
- High attention to detail with experience producing accurate commissioning documentation, test records, and as‑built drawings
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong working relationships across teams and stakeholders
- Full UK driving licence & Right to Work in the UK.

Role Overview

As an Electrical Project Engineer, you will support the delivery of high‑voltage electrical and renewable energy projects ranging from 33kV to 400kV. Supported by Senior Project Engineers, you will help manage projects from pre‑construction through to installation and commissioning, ensuring technical, safety, and commercial requirements are met.

This role is based in Bristol, with travel to project sites across the UK as required.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the end‑to‑end delivery of high‑voltage renewable energy projects (£1m–£30m).
- Assist in planning, organising, and coordinating resources to meet project milestones.
- Maintain technical standards and ensure quality across all project stages.
- Support compliance with Health & Safety requirements, aligned with our Priority No.1: Health, Safety & Well-being.
- Collaborate closely with design, construction, and commercial teams.
- Interface with key stakeholders including DNOs, TSO, suppliers, and client contractors.
