Employee Spotlight | Waqar Ahmed – Commissioning Assistant
We’re proud to spotlight Waqar Ahmed, one of our Commissioning Assistants, who joined Powersystems in June 2025 and has quickly become a valued member of the team. Since joining, Waqar has shown significant growth in a short period of time—consistently going above and beyond, embracing new challenges, and developing his technical skills week by week through dedication, hard work, and a strong desire to learn.
At Powersystems, our people play a vital role in supporting the transition to a sustainable, resilient energy future. Commissioning Assistants like Waqar are key to this mission. Working alongside commissioning engineers, they help ensure that high-voltage electrical assets are installed, tested, and commissioned safely, accurately, and in line with industry standards before being energised.
Recently captured on site at Powersystems Solar project Corner Copse, Waqar is shown setting up a controlled test environment for transformer differential stability testing. This is a critical activity in high-voltage commissioning, helping to verify protection systems and ensure the safe and reliable operation of infrastructure as projects move closer to energisation.

The role of a Commissioning Assistant within a high-voltage electrical engineering company is both demanding and rewarding. It involves supporting complex testing activities, preparing equipment and test setups, maintaining safe working practices on site, and continually building technical knowledge across protection, control, and power systems—laying strong foundations for future progression within the industry.
Waqar’s commitment, professionalism, and positive attitude reflect the high standards we strive for at Powersystems. His contribution supports not only project success, but also our wider goal of delivering safe, reliable power solutions that enable the energy transition.
Thank you, Waqar, for the standard you bring to the team—and for helping power a more sustainable future.
