Celebrating International Women in Engineering Day 2025

June 23, 2025

Engineering is a deeply creative and impactful profession—and that’s exactly what makes it so rewarding. Our colleague Rasha Ragab has never looked back since choosing a career in electrical design engineering. Reflecting on her journey, she shares this advice for young women considering the field:

Becoming an Electrical Design Engineer was never my dream—at least not at first. It was my dad’s.
Growing up, he always believed in the power of engineering and encouraged me to explore this world. At the time, I followed his advice more out of respect and trust than passion. But everything changed once I started studying. The deeper I went into electrical engineering, the more I realised—I truly love this.

I graduated with honours, ranking 8th out of more than 500 engineers. That achievement meant a lot to me and, I hope, made my dad proud too.

Now, with over 15 years of experience in the Electrical design field, I look back with deep gratitude to everyone who supported me along the way—mentors, colleagues, managers, and friends. Your guidance and encouragement shaped the engineer I am today.

Today, I’m proud to be part of Powersystems. It’s more than just a company—it feels like a big family. From day one, I felt supported, welcomed, and appreciated. The team, especially within design, has been incredibly professional, collaborative, and kind. Their support during my first year here meant the world to me.

To any women out there considering a career in electrical design: don’t be afraid to explore the unexpected. Sometimes the path we didn’t plan for becomes the one we were always meant to take.
And to my dad, thank you. For believing in me before I believed in myself. ❤️

At Powersystems, we believe that diverse thinking drives innovation. As we mark this years celebration of women in engineering, we reflect on our shared journey and renew our commitment to building a stronger, safer, and more sustainable future together.

Let’s continue to inspire the next generation of women engineers, break down barriers, and show the world what’s possible when we engineer together.
