Bristol, UK – July 14, 2025 – Powersystems, a leading UK high-voltage electrical engineering company, is proud to announce its participation in the Onshore Wind Conference 2025, taking place on 16–17 September at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC). You’ll find us at Booth 57, where our team will be on hand to share insights, showcase our capabilities, and explore new opportunities in the onshore wind sector.
A Legacy of 32 Years in Wind Farm Renewable Energy Excellence
Since completing the UK’s second commercial land-based wind farm at Goonhilly Downs in Cornwall in 1993, Powersystems has been at the forefront of the UK’s renewable energy transition. The original turbines at Goonhilly Downs, replaced in 2010, generated electricity on 98% of days during their operational life—clocking over 3 billion revolutions across the wind farm.
From these pioneering beginnings, Powersystems has grown into a trusted partner for wind farm electrical infrastructure, completing 1,495 projects and connecting over 9.1 GW of renewable energy to the grid—including 314 wind projects.
Delivering Power Across the UK
Our extensive portfolio includes major projects such as South Kyle 240 MW, North Kyle 220 MW, Dorenell 177 MW, Aikengall I 48 MW, Aikengall II 60.8 MW, Aikengall IIa 81.7 MW, Mid-Hill 75.9 MW, Pen y Cymoedd 228 MW and Clocaenog 96 MW. We are currently working on large-scale sites like Crystal Rig and demonstrating our ability to deliver in some of the UK’s most remote and challenging environments.
Partnerships for life
Powersystems is proud to continue its long-standing partnership with Fred. Olsen Renewables at Crystal Rig Wind Farm—one of the UK’s largest onshore wind farms. Since its initial operation in 2003 with 25 turbines, Crystal Rig has grown to 102 turbines and will generate over 260 MW of clean energy by 2025, powering around 200,000 homes. Following the successful delivery of the 138 MW Crystal Rig II project, Powersystems has now been awarded the Electrical Balance of Plant (EBoP) contract for Crystal Rig IV, working alongside principal contractor RJ McLeod to support Scotland’s renewable energy future.
