At Powersystems, we believe in supporting causes that matter to our people. That’s why we’ve proudly donated £1,000 to a leading prostate cancer charity, in honour of a much-respected colleague who recently retired due to his diagnosis. This cause is deeply personal to our team, and we stand in solidarity with him and the many others affected by this disease.
Why Prostate Cancer Awareness Matters
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK, with around 1 in 8 men diagnosed in their lifetime
1. It often develops slowly and may not show symptoms for years, which is why early detection is crucial.
Know the Signs – Don’t Ignore the Symptoms
While many symptoms can be caused by non-cancerous conditions like benign prostate enlargement, it’s important to be aware of the warning signs and speak to a doctor if you notice:
- Needing to urinate more often, especially at night
- Difficulty starting to urinate or straining while doing so
- A weak urine flow or feeling that your bladder hasn’t emptied fully
- Blood in urine or semen
- Pain in the back, hips, or pelvis (if the cancer has spread)
- Unexplained weight loss or fatigue
These symptoms don’t always mean cancer—but they should never be ignored. If you notice any of these signs, speak to your GP. Early diagnosis can make a significant difference in treatment outcomes.
Standing Together for Men’s Health
This donation is more than a gesture—it’s a reminder of the importance of open conversations about men’s health, regular check-ups, and supporting those facing difficult diagnoses. We encourage all our team members, friends, and families to be proactive about their health and to support the incredible charities working to improve outcomes for men across the UK.
