Powersystems UK Ltd is a high voltage engineering company specialising in electrical power infrastructure, grid connections and renewable generation. Due to Continuing success within these sectors and expansion leads to this vacancy. The commissioning of these substations is the final and critical stage of the build. To strengthen our team we are seeking an experienced Electrical Commissioning Engineer.

►   Duties and responsibilities of the role include:
Plan and carry out work in a safe manner, adhering to health and safety procedures at all times.
Liaising with in house project engineers to produce and develop commissioning plans.
Carry out onsite, pre and post energisation commissioning of substation equipment and protection schemes to ensure Powersystems projects meet with the highest standards.
Liaison with clients, consultants and their representatives.
Produce commissioning reports and test documentation
Manage interfaces between Powersystems and client / DNO commissioning engineers.
Liaise with manufacturers on commissioning issues and attend FAT tests.
Provide technical support to project engineers during design and drawing approval process.
Project a professional image to clients and colleagues
Contribute to the future success of Powersystems UK Ltd and its clients.

►   Qualifications/Skills:
Candidates should have gained relevant experience of commissioning activities within the electrical contracting or utility industries. We would expect you to be self-motivated with proactive approach to work and be able to rise to a challenge.
Educated to a minimum HND level qualification in electrical engineering or equivalent.
Sound technical electrical engineering knowledge within the power sector.
Previously authorised on electrical safety rules for high voltage systems.
Flexible and organised to manage workload to meet deadlines.
Analytical and problem solving skills.
Ability to work proactively on own or as part of a team.
Track record of commissioning.
Excellent communication & IT skills.
Full UK driving licence.

►   Duties and responsibilities associated with the role include:
Co-ordinate and manage weekly resourcing with the project teams to ensure site activities can be delivered in line with client expectations.
Be an integral member of the Powersystems Senior Management team and contribute to achieving companies strategic and operational Objectives.
Set a high standard for Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality on the sites and lead by example ensuring an effective role model for all other personnel on the sites.
Ensure that all activities and operations on the sites are carried out according to company processes and regulations; legislative requirements and guidelines and industry best practice.
Ensure that all activities and operations on our sites are carried out to the highest quality.
Coordinate and input as necessary to any incident or accident investigations.
Ensure all staff training is kept up to date and records of training are recorded as required by company and statutory requirements.
Line Management responsibility for site installation staff, including the commissioning teams and stores manager.
Ensure that all staff on site complete documentation and administrative tasks correctly and in a timely manner.
Overall Management of internal Stores and equipment inventories.
Ensuring effective purchasing of materials and equipment, inventory planning and stores efficiency.
Overall management of companies’ fleet of vehicles.
The post-holder will be required to undertake such duties as may reasonably be expected.  All members of staff are expected to be professional, co-operative and flexible within the needs of the post and the Company.
Duties of the post could vary from time to time as a result of new legislation, changes in technology or policy.  In this event, appropriate training will be provided.

►   Qualifications/Skills:
Previous experience within an operations management role specialising in an electrical or utility discipline.
Demonstrable experience of leading and managing site installation teams.
Ability to plan ahead to ensure best utilization of resources.
Excellent communication skills to enable clear and concise information to be effectively communicated internally to all levels of employees, clients and 3rd parties in both written and verbal format.
Proactive individual with the confidence to make decisions, take initiative and display exceptional leadership abilities.
Excellent IT and communication skills.

Operating on high voltage systems up to 132KV we are looking for a dedicated SAP who will be able to attend sites all over the UK to carryout switching in order to achieve safety from the system and issue safety documents to our installation and commissioning staff.

►   Key Duties
Plan and carry out work in a safe manner, adhering to health and safety procedures at all times.
Liaison with clients, consultants and their representatives to ensure safe working practices.
Attending site to carry out HV switching operations in accordance with our electrical distribution safety rules.
Issuing of safety documents.
Identifying and spiking of cable circuits including fault location.
Testing of cable circuits.
Assist project and commissioning engineers with HV testing when required.
Oversee and mentor junior engineers, competent persons and authorised persons who are working towards SAP status.
Manage interfaces between Powersystems and client / DNO SAP’s.
Project a professional image to clients and colleagues.
Contribute to the future success of Powersystems UK Ltd and its clients.

►   Key qualifications and experience
Experience with a utility or in electrical contracting as a Senior Authorised Person.
A minimum of HNC in Electrical engineering or similar discipline.
Have a good technical knowledge of HV switchgear, both current and obsolete equipment.
Flexible and organised to manage workload to meet deadlines.
Analytical and problem solving skills.
Ability to work proactively on own or as part of a team.
Must have strong oral and written communication skills.
Full UK Driving licence.

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to take up a senior position at our head office in Bristol.  You will be responsible for the overseeing of major projects throughout the UK.

►   Key Duties:
Take the lead role in managing projects, and be responsible for their commercial success, technical correctness, and successful completion.
Liaison with clients, consultants and their representatives.
Ensure project compliance with CDM and health & Safety requirements at all times.
Oversee project engineers and installation teams.
Managing interfaces between installation teams and subcontractors.
Work closely with in-house engineering staff to generate equipment layouts, designs, testing and commissioning procedures.
Liaise with manufacturers on design, installation and commissioning issues.
Support with the development and mentoring of junior staff.
Project a professional image to clients and colleagues.

►   Key qualifications and experience:
Should have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in the industry.
Experience with a utility or in electrical contracting.
A degree / HND in Electrical engineering or similar discipline.
Have obtained or working towards chartered engineer status.
Have good industry knowledge of high voltage systems.
You will be confident in managing clients and third parties and have a strong commitment to the success of the projects you undertake.
Flexible and organised to manage workload to meet deadlines.
Analytical and problem solving skills.
Ability to work proactively on own or as part of a team.
Self-motivated with ability and initiative to get to the heart of a project and see it through to completion.
Excellent IT and communication skills.
Must be available to travel on work related business with occasional overnight stays.
Full UK Driving licence.
